Overview
The newly-conceptional doorknob 'Doorknob for elderly people' is designed for the weak elderly people. By visiting most of Silver Towns and Homes for the Aged throughout the city, I found out that all the doorknobs had number of problems that seemed never to be fixed. Thus I decided to design a doorknob with a new concept based on solving the problems it had all along.
Function & Shape 1. There is no need for a secondary operation such as grabbing or turning.When entering you push and when exiting you pull. That's all you need to do to open the door. 2. Because you can easily operate it just by using a small part of your body, the inconvenience of having to put down the cane or the walker is out of the question. 3. The exterior is coated with silicon, therefore it's not slippery which makes the grip feel more comfortable. 4. Unlike the straight bar type doorknob which often causes accidents because of its protrusion, 'Doorknob for elderly people's curved shape and the silicon cushions itself from any accidents to happen. (It is important to be real cautious with any possible accidents because the Silver generations have weaker immune systems which would cause an accident to become serious.) 5. The coated silicon is added with a luminous material that glows at night for it to be sighted easily.
1. A soft streamlined shape for the elderly to feel familiar. 2. A simple and cute image.(From the result of my research, the Silver generations prefer simple and cute designs over antique and gentle ones.) 3. When removing the coated silicon, you are able to change the color of the doorknob.
